Manchester House Removal.
Denton, Tameside to Marple Bridge, Stockport.
Liz’s move revealed the heart-warming story of her dad John Stevenson who recently died, age 95. John spent his whole life in the Denton house (pictured) having been “born in one room and dying in the one next door”. He was an extremely talented engineer who spent the war years in hush hush airplane design teams, often locked away in a secret location near what became Manchester Airport. He was so proud of his fully paid for house that meant he could be the true free spirit that he was and fully indulge his passion for engineering for engineering’s sake. We were blown away by his meticulously cared for engineering and draftsman tools, all of which have been kept in the family and will continue to be used. Liz, an equally free spirit, took a career break from her work abroad to be with her Dad in his final years though he was still fiercely active and ‘El Presidente’ of the local allotment society. With love and admiration for her Dad Liz recounted how on the night he died he drank a glass of wine before saying goodnight and going to bed. They both knew that he was saying goodbye.
